It’s 2026 and Mr TCB and I are celebrating 30 years since we met and got together. So we’re currently being very nostalgic and listening to a LOT of dance music from 1996! But I digress! Because this is not about me and Mr TCB clubbing our little 23 year old hearts out in the summer of 96! This is about you! 🫵🏽 You’re a small business owner, a female founder, an entrepreneur, a mum building a business from the kitchen table with a bub on your hip and a toddler in nursery, a mum with teens proudly watching you build your business on a prayer and shoestring. And my friend, I am here to help. 🫶🏽 You know your business. You love your business. But Instagram: not so much. And dancing on the Gram? 🤢 Urgh, cringe. Don’t worry I get it. The only reason I didn’t feel like too much of an idiot dancing around my kitchen is because I have ALL the feels for 90s dance tunes. Did I almost not post this Reel because I’m a 53 year old mother and what will the neighbours say… Yes that is true, but if it leads me to YOU then f*ck it! 💃🏼 So if this is a bit of you let’s be friends. You bring your small biz, I’ll bring the insta knowledge, and together let’s get you all the customers and clients you and your small business deserve. Video is king on Instagram! Actually I think we sh Video is king on Instagram! Actually I think we should say Queen as queens are better than kings, but that’s a different post! 😝 There’s no doubt that video rules. It grabs people’s attention and stops the scroll. But some posts need the scroll stop of a Reel, but the swipeable pace of a carousel. That’s where video carousels come into play. Historically, my carousels have never had the Reach of my Reels. And we need Reach content to put fresh eyeballs on our small businesses. That’s why us small biz owners are on insta after all! So I’m going to trial video carousels and see if that can match my Reels Reach. Because there’s no marketing silver bullet on Instagram for small biz owners. It’s about trial and error. Which is why of course Meta actually uses the word trial in Trial Reels! Test it and see! So. My pro tips for creating these in Canva. 1. Add a transparent layer to help the words pop on screen. More visible = more readable = more likely to keep reading… And 2. Download each page as individual files so you can post them on insta like a regular carousel. Will you give Video Carousels a go? First up: do you know how hard it is to actually get people over to your profile? Babe. It’s tough. Why? Because people scroll mindlessly. 🤯 Think about how you pick up your phone. Waiting for your coffee to be made. Waiting for your train. Waiting for the kids’ pasta to boil… we tend to scroll when we’re bored. We do it without thinking… so as a small business owner you really need to grab their attention and interrupt that mindless scroll. But! If you have followed me @tcbsocialmedia you will know all the tips and tricks for doing that! So they’ll take a look at your profile. Success! But only if you keep them on your profile! You want them intrigued by your bio. Watching your old Reels. Bingeing your story highlights! You don’t want to send them somewhere else! So please for the love of Meta, don’t put anything in your bio that people can click on. Unless! It has a very specific job.
