You need about 5-10 seconds. Shoot vertically in your phone. Have some movement in the shot as it grabs attention. Prop your phone up anywhere (mine was leaning against some books when I filmed this) and press record. Now. Why do I recommend that all small business owners have a bank of b roll ready to go? When a small biz markets their business on Instagram, to key to doing this successfully, is to convey your message to potential clients & customers. Over & over again. Don’t worry about repeating yourself. That’s a good thing on here! Take your message, and repeat! Photos are great (Insta began as a photo sharing app) but it’s not that anymore: video is king. So we use video, Reels, to Reach people. If you’re comfortable talking on camera? Great. Create talking Reels. Wanna dance a TikTok trend? Go for your life! 💃🏼 But if you’re a small biz owner who wants to run their business but knows they also have to create content…? B Roll is for you! You don’t even have to look at the camera! But Suze, shouldn’t I film something related to what I do for a living? Sure! Why not?! Prop your phone anywhere and film anything. The video is just the vehicle to get your message across. It’s the words you write on the screen that do the heavy lifting. The Hook. Make that hook super specific, make it speak directly to your ideal client’s needs. The hook is the key bit that I see so many miss. They’re actually repelling potential followers! Giving them no reason to read the caption, or check out their profile… So. B Roll my friend. Prop your phone up today. Shoot a bit of B Roll. Save it a folder in your photos called, yep you’ve guessed it, B Roll! This bit makes it SO much easier to find later.
