Your Instagram account just got better

POV: using a trending Reel to tell you that you do POV: using a trending Reel to tell you that you don’t need to use every trending Reel. 😅

If you’re a small business owner or female founder, it’s so easy to think you need to jump on every Instagram trend before it disappears.

But here’s the truth:

Not every trending Reel is right for your business.

If you’re forcing your message into a trend that doesn’t fit your brand, your audience can tell. And while you might get a few extra views, views alone don’t build a sustainable business.

A strong Instagram strategy is about creating content that attracts the right people, builds trust, showcases your expertise and encourages people to buy from you.

That’s why I always tell my clients if you’re thinking about jumping on a trend, adapt don’t copy.

If a trend helps you explain a tip, tell a story or connect with your ideal customer, go for it.

If you’re only posting it because everyone else is? Scroll on by…

Your content should make people think, “This is exactly who I’ve been looking for.”

Not, “Oh look, another person doing the same trend.”

Create content with purpose first.

Use trends second.

Your business deserves more than chasing the algorithm.

Who’s with me?

PS this couple who climbed to the top of the Empire State Building?! I could never! 😳 I get vertigo at the top of a tube escalator! 🤣

Sounds legit to me. 🤣 How can you use this trend? Sounds legit to me. 🤣

How can you use this trend?
As a rule I don’t recommend to my clients to jump on every trend.

But sometimes something fun, and a bit unhinged comes along. So have fun with it. And show your personality!

Ways you could use it:
Photographer
I meet people on the internet, take them to fields and shoot them.

Waxer
I will rip out your hair from the roots and charge you for it

Barber
I will hold a sharp blade to your throat and take your money

Biscuit maker / baker / chef
I mix a series of chemicals in my basement lab and charge you to eat it

Removals or clear the clutter specialists
I will turn up at your house and put all your things into a big van, and leave

Have a bit of fun with it!
Tell me what you can write in the comments. The more unhinged the better!! 😂

Need more engagement? 🤔💯 Most of us will answer y Need more engagement? 🤔💯

Most of us will answer yes to this question!

Engagement rate has been the go-to metric for measuring Instagram performance for as long as most of us can remember!

For anyone wondering, but what does “engagement” mean, it’s this:

Are people saving your content?

Are they sharing it?

Are they leaving comments?

Those metrics count for more than likes! Likes are nice to have: sure looks pretty! But when it comes to Instagram actually looking at your content, and wondering: shall we push this out to more people? They’re not looking at likes. So don’t focus on them!

Recent data shows that Reels drives comments and shares, carousels tend to drive saves.

So if you’re posting Reels and you want more comments: ask. BUT! You need to be specific!

“What do you think?” gets ignored. “Which of these would you try first?” gets answered.

Wondering why this works? The more thinking someone has to do to answer, the fewer comments you’ll get. Give people a specific, easy-to-answer question and engagement usually increases.

Don’t say: Let me know if this helped.
Say: What’s one thing you’re going to implement first?

Don’t say: Comment below.
Say: Which number describes you best: 1, 2, or 3?

See how getting more specific in the question, reduces the thinking that your followers have to do to comment! It’s psychology! That’s why ‘posting and hoping’ is never a strategy.

So, a moment to be truthful! 😬 How often have you used the phrase: what do you think? Or what are your thoughts? Go on: be honest!!
