What to Post on Instagram in October

It can be tough constantly coming up with content ideas! It’s one of the things that clients say to me the most – I don’t know what to post on Instagram!

But as always – I got you! Here are 31 days of ideas of what to post on Instagram in October!

Week 1 (Oct 1-7)

Day 1 (Oct 1): Introduce Your Business for the Month

  • Caption prompt: “Hello, October! 🍂 Here’s a peek at what’s coming up for [business name] this month. From Halloween treats to early Christmas prep – stay tuned!”
  • Idea: Share an overview of what’s in store for your business this month (new products/services, offers, events).
  • This is a great way to d a reintroduction posts for your followers, remind them who you are and what your do, and it builds trust and community!

Day 2 (Oct 2): Share a Product/Service That’s Perfect for Autumn

Day 3 (Oct 3): Behind-the-Scenes: Prepping for a Busy October

  • Caption prompt: “Behind the scenes at [business name]! We’re getting ready for a busy month ahead – take a look at what we’re working on.”
  • Idea: Share a photo or video of your workspace or prepping orders.
  • This increases community as people love a behind the scenes post – especially if there are bloopers! It makes you a real person and reminds them who they’ve buying from or booking in with.

Day 4 (Oct 4): Customer Testimonial Post

  • Caption prompt: “We love hearing from our amazing customers! Here’s what [customer name] had to say about .”
  • Idea: Share a positive review or testimonial.
  • All businesses need this social proof on social media – think how well reviews on Amazon or AirBnB work – people like to know that someone has already bought it / been there and that they approve!

Day 5 (Oct 5): Engage: Ask a Question Related to Your Business or Products

Day 6 (Oct 6): Highlight a Local or Online Business Partner

  • Caption prompt: “We’re all about supporting local! Check out [tag another business] – we love their .”
  • Idea: Give a shoutout to a fellow business or brand you collaborate with or admire.
  • Better still approach a fellow business owner and collaborate – collaborations on Insta are a great way to get fresh eyes on your content.

Day 7 (Oct 7): Share a Quick Tip Relevant to Your Niche

  • Caption prompt: “Did you know? Here’s a quick tip to help you [solve a problem or use your product better].”
  • Idea: Offer an actionable tip that showcases your expertise.

Week 2 (Oct 8-14)

Day 8 (Oct 8): Showcase an Autumn-Themed Product or Service

Day 9 (Oct 9): Share a Fun Fact About Your Business

  • Caption prompt: “Here’s something you may not know about [business name]! Fun fact: [insert fact].”
  • Idea: Share a quirky or interesting fact that personalises your business.
  • So important for allowing your followers to see the person and personality behind the small business – people buy from people!

Day 10 (Oct 10): World Mental Health Day: Share a Tip on Balance

  • Caption prompt: “Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. Here’s how we find balance in our business while staying focused on growth.”
  • Idea: Discuss a self-care or wellness tip that resonates with small business owners.

Day 11 (Oct 11): Show How a Product is Made or Service is Delivered

  • Caption prompt: “We want to hear from you! Which Autumn colour is your favourite for ? Take our poll in Stories!”
  • Idea: Use Instagram Stories to engage your audience with polls or questions.
  • Most sales happen in stories so utilise all the stickers that Insta gives us – like polls and links!

Day 13 (Oct 13): Tease Early Christmas Offers

  • Caption prompt: “Christmas is coming 🎄! Get ready for early-bird deals starting soon – stay tuned for exclusive offers!”
  • Idea: Start teasing Christmas offers to build anticipation – is it ever too easy to C Bomb?!

Day 14 (Oct 14): Showcase a Customer Using Your Product

  • Idea: Share user-generated content or a photo of a happy customer.
  • Again this is the all important social proof!
